Starting with promotional pieces more than a decade ago, Alan's animation projects broadened out to include more and more animations for Web sites and even entire Web sites built, from the ground up, using animation. His most recent animation work is the slide shows he has developed for a number of sites, including this one (click in the "Portfolio Tour" button on the home page to view the video he created for this site). In addition to the many Adobe Flash animations he's created, he is now moving into HTML5 and jQuery animation as well as video editing. The following are examples of just a few of his animation and graphic projects over the years. |

This is the most fun you can have building animations. It's a 2 1/2 minute music video using animated photos and graphics. The client, Devlin Black, is a Los Angeles-based metal musician, so pulling out all the stops perfectly expresses his brand. Photos, art, music editing and animation all by Mr. Katz. Alan's original photography portfolio tour, also circa 2004. Both the photography and the animation have come a long way since this one was built. Nonetheless, it's still a good example of how portfolio can be shown using Flash animation. Click here to view the animation. |
It's often part of styling the brand identity of the client, starting with the Web site, but often including a new logo and a wide range of promotional materials, including posters, mugs and other graphic marketing tools. The images below represent a small but representative sample of some of Alan's graphic design work. Click on the thumbnails below for samples of the art in each category. |

Not only did he create the Web sites and Web applications for these clients, he often did their photography and created their poster and program art. He has had the privilege of designing, photographing and creating art for a number of really talented arts professionals. Click here to view a few music posters. |
